Have you ever heard of the Flea Experiment?
A scientist placed a bunch of fleas in a jar….
Now fleas are known to be able to jump 80-200X their length. That is equivalent to a man able to jump the height of the Empire State building! You could say jumping is the fleas’ superpower.
So when the scientist first placed the fleas in the jar, they easily jumped out of it. The height of the jar was less than half of what their maximum jump height was.
Next, the scientist sealed the jar with a lid. The fleas tried to keep jumping out but they kept hitting their heads on the lid.
After a while, a strange thing happened – the fleas kept jumping but not high enough to hit the lid…
And when the scientist finally took the lid off, the fleas never again jumped high enough to get out… the lid had trained them that trying to jump higher was only going to end in pain.
They were trapped but more importantly trained that they were limited in their abilities.
The fleas never escaped…until the scientist added another flea. This flea didn’t know that there was a limit to it’s jump. It had no beliefs that stopped it.
So it jumped out and was FREE!
Guess what happened next?
All the other fleas saw this and once again started to jump out of the jar! They were shown that they had the abilities to escape the jar! They broke free from their limited beliefs and became powerful again!
Why am I telling you this?
